Although a clear pathological link between a single LIB exposure and chronic neurological disease risk such as dementia has not been established, repetitive LIB can cause cumulative shear-strain effects on brain cells [3] resulting in increased expression of dementia-related biomarkers such as amyloid β [32], hyperphosphorylated Tau (p-Tau) [33], neurofilament light chain, and many others [34]. The gene discussed is MAPT; the disease is dementia.
