Recently, D’Ambrosio et al. [8], based on the immunohistochemical staining grading of three structures of CNV, namely, the RPE, vascular network, and fibroblasts for SDF1, CXCR4, and VEGF receptor 2, revealed differences in the CXCR4 staining of the vascular meshwork of iCNV as compared with AMD-related CNV, suggesting that capillaries have a different role in membrane development [8]. Here, CXCR4 is linked to age-related macular degeneration.
