IGFBP3 and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis: In the liver, IGFBP-2 expression was significantly increased during all NAFLD stages compared to the controls (Figure 3c), whereas IGFBP-3 expression was higher in bNASH compared with SS and NASH (control = 88.6 ± 12.1, SS = 67.0 ± 14.2, bNASH = 110.5 ± 30.3, NASH = 66.0 ± 18.5 pg/mg of liver; p < 0.05), and other IGFBPs did not exhibit any change in the hepatic tissue related to NAFLD progression.
