It has been reported, for example, that downregulation of miR-195, which can repress translation of the mRNAs encoding APP and the β-site amyloid precursor protein cleaving enzyme (BACE1), can also have an impact on dementia in AD; as a consequence, an increase in this miRNA should have a positive effect on AD patients [225,226]. This evidence concerns the gene BACE1 and Alzheimer disease.
