In our transcriptomic profiling analysis, we found that oxidative phosphorylation was one of the top enriched pathways that was suppressed in Dp16;ACE2 mice following SARS-CoV-2 infection on day 6 p.i. (Figure 5C), and this pathway was associated with a cluster of 11 genes (Figure 5G); these findings suggest that suppression of oxidative phosphorylation may contribute to COVID-19 mortality in Down syndrome. This evidence concerns the gene ACE2 and Down syndrome.
