It has been reported that the expression of inflammatory factors, including monocyte chemoattractant protein 1 (MCP-1), tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α), and MIF, were increased in mouse and human ADPKD kidneys, and contribute to cystogenesis through regulating multiple signaling pathways [5,16,22]. The gene discussed is MIF; the disease is autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease.
