As EAT thickness is a marker for visceral adiposity and the related metabolic and cardiovascular risk, PCSK9 might be one of the factors responsible for the development of atherogenic dyslipidemia and increased CVD risk in patients with T1D.The main limitations of our study are its cross-sectional nature and the small sample size of our cohort, making larger studies necessary to confirm our data. This evidence concerns the gene PCSK9 and metabolic syndrome.
