Analysis of SOX10 and SOX9 expression [28] (Fig. 1A) confirmed a progressive switch, towards a putative undifferentiated state, losing SOX10, in favor of SOX9, according to the four melanoma cell states as per the nomenclature proposed by Tsoi et al. [29] (melanocytic, transitory, neural-crest like NCL and undifferentiated). This evidence concerns the gene SOX9 and melanoma.
