CRBN and autosomal recessive non-syndromic intellectual disability: Among the many different genes that have been linked to ID (Kochinke et al, 2016), CRBN, the gene encoding the 442 amino-acid protein cereblon/CRBN, was identified 20 years ago in a study searching for gene(s) causing a non-severe form of autosomal recessive non-syndromic intellectual disability (ARNSID) found in American individuals with German roots (Higgins et al, 2000, 2004).
