After assessing the low-grade systemic inflammation and the white adipose tissue inflammation by infiltrated macrophages in an obese state, the next plausible evaluation was for nuclear factor kappa B (NF-κB) activation and signaling NF-κB is crucially implicated in inflammatory processes accountable for the development of obesity (Catrysse and van Loo, 2017), and its signaling activity is known to be elevated in mice fed HFD (Baker et al., 2011; Hou et al., 2017). Here, NFKB1 is linked to obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
