TGFB1 was reported to be highly expressed in bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs) of type 2 diabetic rats; with TGFB1 inhibited, the osteogenic differentiation of BMSCs was enhanced, the aging of BMSCs delayed, the bone mass increased and the fracture healing promoted in the rats [38]. The gene discussed is TGFB1; the disease is type 2 diabetes mellitus.
