Nuclear expression of YAP/TAZ is high in affected tissues in human fibrotic diseases (e.g., idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis [IPF] and systemic sclerosis) [117-119] and experimentally-induced fibrotic conditions (e.g., myocardial infarction, diabetes, and chronic colitis) in mice [120-124]. This evidence concerns the gene YAP1 and idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis.
