CD58, for example, is a surface marker of CRC tumor-initiating stem cells that has previously been found to be expressed by only ∼ 4% of cells in CRC cell lines, correlating well with the observed rarity of the β-catenin peak, yet is capable of enhancing self-renewal and promoting epithelial to mesenchymal transition (65). Here, CD58 is linked to colorectal carcinoma.
