The heteropolysaccharides supplemented in medium and high doses to rats with MetS significantly reduced the level of prooxidants (superoxide anion radical O2−, hydrogen peroxide H2O2, TBARS; p < 0.05) and increased antioxidants activity (superoxide dismutase, catalase, reduced glutathione; p < 0.05) compared to untreated MetS animals (20).
