In line with these findings, the treatment of mice having a SFC-induced MASLD with infliximab, an anti-TNFα antibody, for one week (see Fig. 5A for experimental set-up and Table S4 for characteristics of mice as well as [17]) resulted in a lowering of peripheral ethanol levels almost to the level of controls (p = 0.07) while ethanol levels in portal plasma were similar between groups (Fig. 5B). This evidence concerns the gene TNF and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease.
