In the myocardium, we observed a relative expansion of the combined population of activated γδ T, Tcyt, and NK T cells (CD3+ CD4− CD8α+), while bona fide naïve γδ T cells (CD3+ CD4− CD8α−) were correspondingly reduced in the infarct core on day 3 and particularly on day 7 post-MI, compared to sham samples (Fig. 12c). The gene discussed is CD8A; the disease is myocardial infarction.
