Knockdown of CBS in all tested CRC cell lines increased ferroptosis induced by cystine restriction (Fig. 1D–F and Figs. S1F–H) and Erastin treatment (Fig. 1G, Figs. S1I and J), which was confirmed by decreased cell viability and increased accumulation of lipid peroxidation (lipid ROS; a biomarker of ferroptosis that the fluorescent probe C11-BODIPY can detect). The gene discussed is CBS; the disease is colorectal carcinoma.
