The DRD expresses CRF,49,55 CRF receptor 1 (CRFR1) and CRF receptor 2 (CRFR2) in 5-HT neurons.56 CRF is a neuropeptide involved in anxiety, coping behaviours and activating the hypothalamic-pituitary axis in response to stress.57,58 Anterograde- and retrograde-tracing studies suggest DRD neurons may influence stress responses via reciprocal connections to structures, such as (but not limited to) the BNST,49,59,60 BLA53 and central amygdala (CeA).60-62. This evidence concerns the gene CRHR1 and Anxiety.
