NLRP3 and cancer: Furthermore, it has recently been demonstrated that fluoxetine, which is a drug that is approved by the FDA for the treatment of clinical depression, can bind to and inhibit NLRP3 and, consequently, Alu RNA-dependent signaling32, thus increasing the overall survival of cancer patients treated with PD-1/L1 immunotherapy33; these results highlight the importance of NLRP3 signaling in cancer.
