Dang et al. recently reported that PKM2-activated macrophages drive abdominal aortic aneurysm progression by promoting vascular lipid peroxidation and ameliorating macrophage antioxidant capacity in vascular adventitia, as evidenced by increased gene expression of Ptgs2 and decreased gene expression of Gpx4 and Slc7a11 [53]. This evidence concerns the gene GPX4 and abdominal aortic aneurysm.
