HGF and Hepatic fibrosis: The association between platelets, HGF, and hepatic fibrosis is supported by the findings of Takahashi et al. [18], who demonstrated that transfused human platelets improved CCl4-induced liver fibrosis in mice by increasing HGF levels in the liver, suppressing hepatic stellate cell (HSC) activation, inducing matrix metalloproteinase-9 expression, and inhibiting hepatocyte apoptosis.
