Using a variety of methodologies, including Mettl23-knock-in and -knockout mice, as well as induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) derived from patients with normal-tension glaucoma (NTG), the researchers demonstrated the crucial role of METTL23 in the survival of retinal ganglion cell (RGC) soma and the protection of the optic nerve. Here, METTL23 is linked to low tension glaucoma.
