Evaluation of immune cell infiltrates in a tissue microarray comprised of 141 tissue specimens, including both NF1 and non-NF1-associated MPNSTs, neurofibromas, schwannomas, and normal nerves from 86 patients, showed that CD8+ infiltrates were significantly increased in benign PNST and MPNST vs. normal nerve [112].
