The induction of Gadd153/c-Jun expression by anticancer drugs has been associated with enhanced drug sensitivity and apoptotic cell death in vitro and in vivo in a variety of human cancer cells: cisplatin in ovarian [142,143,144], melanoma, and head and neck cancer cells [142,145]; PTX in ovarian cancer cells [142]; VP-16 in leukemia cells [146]; 5-fluorouracil and cisplatin in gastric cancer cells [147]; and doxorubicin in breast cancer cells [148].
