In SMARCB1-null rhabdoid cells, the enhancers that stimulate the expression of genes associated with increased cancer function are so-called super-enhancers [11] which are known to be important in regulating cell identity, much like that of typical enhancers, and are particularly prevalent in cancer where they can be acquired at tumor-specific oncogenes during the route to tumor formation [38,39]. This evidence concerns the gene SMARCB1 and cancer.
