TTFields-mediated therapeutic effects have also been implicated in tumour cell toxicity through downregulation of key DDR proteins such as BRCA1/2 and components of the Fanconi anaemia pathway; induction of replication stress; prevention and targeting of metastasis; and invasion and reversible permeabilisation of cancer cell membranes and the blood–brain barrier, leading to improved chemotherapeutic drug delivery (see [17] and the references therein). The gene discussed is BRCA1; the disease is cancer.
