To examine whether modulations of the IKK2/NF-κB pathway in VSMCs in vivo affects CKD-dependent vascular calcification, we generated tamoxifen-inducible VSMC-specific IKK2-KO (SMC-IKK2–KO) mice and subjected them to 5/6 nephrectomy to induce CKD. This evidence concerns the gene NFKB1 and chronic kidney disease.
