Mitochondrial insults have been repeatedly implicated in the neurological deficits of multiple sclerosis (Mao and Reddy, 2010; Sadeghian et al., 2016), and we observed a reduction in mitochondrial mass of oligodendrocyte lineage cells from Cnp+/cre;Hcn2F/F animals. The gene discussed is CNP; the disease is multiple sclerosis.
