Diabetes induction, in untreated GI, significantly elevated MDA level (17.7 nmol/g tissue) and significantly reduced the antioxidant enzymes levels (35.6 U/g tissue, 33.1 U/g tissue and 59.1 μmol/g tissue for SOD, CAT and GSH, respectively) when compared to those of healthy control GI. This evidence concerns the gene SOD1 and diabetes mellitus.
