This DEK-CAN fusion gene is more common in acute myeloid leukemia and also in MDS patients who are usually young and have a poor prognosis.[15] The immunophenotype of patients with DEK-CAN fusion gene often has the expression CD13, CD33, CD34, CD38, CD45, and HLA-DR.[16,17] Case 2 in this study also had a similar phenotype expression.
