Several studies have demonstrated that AD neuropathogenesis is triggered by the accumulation of β‐amyloid peptide (Aβ) produced by the cleavage and processing of amyloid precursor protein (APP), in a process called the amyloidogenic pathway (Prasansuklab & Tencomnao, 2013; Selkoe & Hardy, 2016). This evidence concerns the gene APP and Alzheimer disease.
