Notably, GJA5 and GJB1 were differentially expressed between tumor tissues and matched normal tissues in 15 distinct cancers (Supplementary Figures 2C, D), including breast invasive carcinoma, renal chromophobe cell carcinoma, renal clear cell carcinoma, renal papillary cell carcinoma, endometrial carcinoma, thyroid carcinoma, prostate cancer, hepatocellular carcinoma, and lung squamous cell carcinoma. Here, GJB1 is linked to hepatocellular carcinoma.
