The present study is significant and innovative because it is the first systematic analysis of the association between SORBS1 and BRCA, the first report regarding the potential relationship between SORBS1 expression and macrophage polarization, and the first to demonstrate that SORBS1 expression regulates the PI3K/AKT signaling pathway, which in turn affects EMT of breast cancer cells (the SORBS1 action mechanism is detailed in Supplementary Figure 2). The gene discussed is SORBS1; the disease is breast carcinoma.
