TRIM5 and cardiovascular disorder: Irrespective of the pathophysiological mechanism, our findings raise the possibility that inhibition of TRIM5 could provide an alternative therapeutic pathway for reducing the risk of cardiovascular disease via lowering the concentrations of circulating atherosclerotic apoB-containing lipoprotein particles similar to PCSK9-inhibition therapies that are useful for statin intolerant individuals or for statin users requiring further risk reduction.
