Our comparison of the fine-grained metabolic associations across the lipoprotein measures enables the identification of clusters of genes with similar metabolic profiles, suggesting TRIM5 as a potential therapeutic target for lowering pro-atherogenic lipid levels, and therefore cardiovascular diseases, as the metabolic profile of TRIM5 aligns well with genes that affect LDL cholesterol intake to hepatocytes through the LDL receptor. Here, TRIM5 is linked to cardiovascular disorder.
