The level of MCP-1 in eyes with congenital cataract and PCD was higher than that in eyes with an intact posterior capsule (p = 0.001), as were the levels of TGF-β2 (p = 0.003) and VEGF (p = 0.04) (Figure 1). This evidence concerns the gene CCL2 and early-onset non-syndromic cataract.
