During endotoxin-induced acute lung injury, Cul-5 was found to be necessary for pulmonary inflammation, since the levels of IL-1β, IL-6, TNF-α, CXCL1, and monocyte chemotactic protein-1 (MCP-1) were lower in the lung tissue from Cul-5+/− mice, as compared to wild-type control. Here, CCL2 is linked to inflammatory response.
