Following informed parental consent, we obtained single, ∼2 mm2 matched laryngeal and tracheal pinch biopsies from areas of arytenoid and lateral mid-tracheal mucosa from five children—one pediatric, sex-matched non-EB donor undergoing airway endoscopy for an unrelated reason and four children with known LAMA3 variants who were undergoing planned endoscopic procedures to manage their airway EB disease (Figure 2A). Here, LAMA3 is linked to epidermolysis bullosa.
