Studies in animal models suggested that AhR played a significant role in regulating metabolism[34, 36] and I3AA was a ligand of AhR.[33] Notably, several publications revealed that activation of AhR in adipose tissue contributed to diet‐induced obesity.[37, 38] In addition, adipose‐specific AhR depletion protected from diet induced obesity.[39] These reports suggested that B. coccoides‐I3AA induced fat loss was probably not depend on activating adipose tissue AhR directly. This evidence concerns the gene AHR and obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
