However, HSP70 significantly decreased the percentage of necrotic cells in the fibroblasts with PINK1 mutation (from 12.1 ± 0.8% to 7.8 ± 0.6% after 24 h of HSP70 incubation, N = 3 experiments) and LRRK2 mutations (14.5 ± 0.9% versus 6.8 ± 0.7% after 24 h of HSP70 incubation) (p < 0.01) Fig. 6F), indicating that HSP70 protects against cell death also in the familial model of PD. This evidence concerns the gene PINK1 and Parkinson disease.
