Given the significant decrease in phosphorylation of PKCδ in NC114‐treated colorectal cancer cells (Fig. 4C) and relatively small decrease in kinase activity observed in vitro (Fig. 4D), the binding of NC114 to PKCδ may act primarily to hinder the phosphorylation of PKCδ that is required for its kinase activity rather than to inhibit the kinase activity of PKCδ. This evidence concerns the gene PRKCD and colorectal cancer.
