Our data are consistent with our previous report showing that inceptor plays a key role in regulating islet insulin action in lean normoglycaemic mice7 and supports the hypothesis that inhibition of inceptor to sensitize INSR/IGF1R action may be a promising pharmacological target in the context of diet-induced impairments of glucose homeostasis, in particular with regard to β cell mass and health, with the potential to avoid β cell failure and slow diabetes progression. The gene discussed is INSR; the disease is diabetes mellitus.
