Concerning E-cadherin, the coexistence of aberrant localization of β-catenin and loss of membranous E-cadherin was significantly correlated with grade (p=0.01), higher lymph node involvement (p=0.001), vascular invasion (p=0.001) and lymphocytic infiltration (p=0.001). Our findings suggest that the shifting of β-catenin between its membranous to cytoplasmic/nucleus locations is associated with the initiation of EMT, and this localization pattern is also connected to the advanced progression of CRC. This evidence concerns the gene CDH1 and colorectal carcinoma.
