Given that AMPK is a well-known signaling mediator in lipid metabolism and inflammation (Muse et al., 2004; Sag et al., 2008; Day et al., 2017), and has been shown to play a role in the progression of NAFLD (Smith et al., 2016; Herzig and Shaw, 2018), we investigated if the levels of AMPK and p-AMPK were altered in the different treatment groups.
