PDPN and inflammatory bowel disease: It has previously been suggested that infiltrating macrophages/monocytes activate fibroblasts8, therefore, we investigated how the inflammatory response based on PDPN expression in the largest stromal subset Fibro_0_2, is related to frequencies of different immune cells (Fig. 2n), including activated T cell subsets (Supplementary Fig. 3e) and IgG+ plasma cells (Supplementary Fig. 3f), that are known to expand in IBD, and in our hands found at higher frequencies in inflamed tissue (Supplementary Fig. 3g).
