IL6 and appendicitis: In the univariate logistic regression analysis, age (OR 0.84 [95% CI 0.75–0.94], p < 0.01), symptom duration (OR 3.19 [95% CI 1.19–8.52], p = 0.02), presence of an appendicolith (OR 2.82 [95% CI 1.26–6.31], p = 0.01), and concentration of serum IL-6 (OR 1.001 [95% CI 1.000–1.002], p = 0.02) were associated with an increased risk of complicated appendicitis.
