Increased expression of activation and exhaustion markers as compared to people without HIV (PWOH) have been reported,23,25 but these studies were limited to few markers (human leukocyte antigen [HLA]-DR, PD1, and TIM3) as compared to PWOH.6,26–34 We sought to address this knowledge gap by performing an in-depth analysis of immune responses during acute COVID-19 in a cohort of PWH with varying levels of COVID-19 disease severity.
