EIF4G1 and nasopharyngeal carcinoma: Further multivariate analysis showed that EIF4G1 expression was an independent prognostic indicator for overall survival in patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma; indeed, knocking down EIF4G1 using a short hairpin RNA (shRNA) not only significantly inhibited cell cycle progression, proliferation, migration, invasion, and colony formation, but also greatly inhibited the growth of xenograft tumors in vivo (Tu et al., 2010).
