AFP and hepatoblastoma: Findings of particular note included the fact that AFP levels alone are insufficient for detection of relapse in a significant minority of relapse patients, that the role of irinotecan in the treatment of hepatoblastoma relapse patients needs further investigation, that the relative timing of combined surgical and chemotherapeutic interventions appears to be important in relapse treatment, and finally that more conservative treatment options and rescue liver transplants should be considered as viable therapy strategies.
