Due to the importance of CD8+ and CD4+ T cells in the anti-cancer immune response, the exclusion of CD8+ T cells and activated CD4+ memory T cells from high-PIEZO1 HR-negative tumors enables cancer progression and likely contributes to the worse survival outcomes that we see in HR-negative breast cancer patients with high PIEZO1 expression levels. This evidence concerns the gene PIEZO1 and breast carcinoma.
