It is important to mention that newer drugs, such as sodium–glucose cotransporter 2 inhibitors (SGLT2-Is) and glucagon-like peptide 1 receptor agonists (GLP1-RAs), significantly reduce the risk of CVD in patients with T2DM and CVD, but do not yet have the same level of evidence in nondiabetic patients, including those with prediabetes. This evidence concerns the gene GLP1R and prediabetes syndrome.
